Motorola is obviously counting on sales to the public safety sector to help the company rebound from sharp revenue losses. When announcing quarterly results recently, Co-CEO Greg Brown said he is optimistic about sales from the public safety sector and the potential windfall from economic stimulus. Motorola’s handheld device sales are down significantly, and public safety is the only sector that Brown specifically called out with noticeable optimism.
Perhaps not coincidentally, MOTO recently announced the hiring of a former high-ranking federal grants official to help connect potential Motorola customers to grant money. Brown is one of the CEOs who appeared with a President Obama soliciting support for the economic stimulus law before its approval.
